Rogers Music Overview

The Rogers Music Program has quickly distinguished itself as one of the top music programs in the Long Beach Unified School District.  Each year the advanced level groups at Rogers participate in Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association sponsored festivals.  At these festivals, each group performs for a panel of judges and is rated on various musical catagories.  Rogers groups consistently receive Superior and Excellent ratings.

Parent Support Group

We are very fortunate at Rogers to have a wonderful group of music parents who volunteer their time to help chaperone events and raise funds for the program.  Parents can help as much or as little as they want.  The parent support group meets three or four times throughout the year, spending most of the time coordinating our annual scholarship concert and dinner.

Annual Fundraiser Dinner/Concert

The dinner/concert fundraiser has become the highlight of our year.  Each year we hold a concert in the Wilson High School Gym that includes a catered dinner, auction, and opportunity drawing.  This event raises money to purchase new instruments for the school, hire private music coaches to work with the students in small groups, pay for the jazz band and advanced orchestra instruction, and to purchase new sheet music.

Music Coaches

All the music classes will have private music coaches working with small groups of students throughout the year.  This extra teacher reinforces the skills taught in class and provides advanced technique specific to each instrument.
